SmallBiz website a big hit

Over 220,000 visitors have taken advantage of the NSW Government’s small businesses website in its first five months of operation.

Launched in September, the website’s start, run and grow structure means targeted, practical help is available to people who are starting up, refining their business or expanding into new markets.

A feature of the website is its Small Business Tool Kit, which is particularly popular with over 30,000 unique visitors and 1,500 registered users to date. The Tool Kit has audio and video presentations, checklists, calculators, and real-life case studies that give tips and solutions for managing everyday issues such as cash flow and marketing. It also helps small business owners and operators prepare their business plans so they can hit the ground running.”

Mr Soto Shen of Padstow scrap metal recycler, Scrap Fast, says the smallbiz website is “fantastic”.

“It's the best small business resource I've run into because it links everything together,” Mr Shen said.

“The Tool Kit can provide information that my friends in business can't help me with, especially putting together a business plan which I liked because it's difficult to see examples of what's required from other businesses who keep theirs confidential.

“I like how the website is hands-on and educational. I have shared it with other people.”

Other website users have commented on the website’s usefulness with comments including:

”I will use the information on this website along with knowledge obtained from attending a NSW Government small business seminar to complete my business plan”; and

“The website will be a good starting point for everyday issues once my business is up and running.”

The smallbiz website also contains specific information on initiatives for women in business, home-based and micro businesses, young entrepreneurs, Indigenous businesses and industry groups.
